To Protect Tropical Fishes

I went to Miyako-island in Okinawa this summer vacation. Miyako-island is an isolated island surrounded by the sea. There is a beautiful sea and natures.

I swam and dived under the water with a snorkel in the sea. There are coral reefs and many forms of tropical fishes swam under the sea. It is very beautiful and fantastic. I was impressed with the beauty of the tropical fishes. However, I heard about serious problem there from local residents. The coral reefs gradually are broken and fishes are fewer and fewer than ever. The cause is tourism.

The tropical fishes cannot live without a coral reef. Therefore we should treat coral reefs carefully. The coral is sensitive. When people puts a foot on a coral reef and kick it, it is broken easily. Also, the sea is polluted by garbage tourists throw away in the beach and sunburn lotion applied which they to on their bodies. As a result, the tropical fishes find it hard to live. If we don’t do some measures, the coral reef will disappear and the fish will die. It is very unfortunate.
However, I said that the cause is tourism, but we don’t know simply how to treat coral reefs. There are not the people injuring it intentionally. I didn’t know about the problems in the sea and the coral reef, too, so, I think that it is necessary to tell tourists about how to treat and protect coral reefs. Then the tourists will be dive into the sea with care and the beautiful sea and tropical fish will be protected in the future. I hope to not change beautiful sea if I go to Miyako-island again.
