Reading

We can find individual pleasure in reading. One person may find 10 pleasures in a book and another person may find just one pleasure in 10 volumes. My reading has 3 pleasures－getting knowledge, collecting books, and enjoying story.

There are so many books in the world that we can never know all of those titles. When we want to get knowledge about something we can choose from many choices. Books must be the most valuable tools to get knowledge because these are direct words from intellectuals. Though the internet also is useful to get knowledge, since it contains some information by amateur and some information of book, it’s not enough. Direct words from intellectuals are very interesting for me and it arouse my curiosity.

It is different from getting knowledge, collecting books is good too. For example, the jacket of a novel or a comic book has a good picture especially in the West. Those are very artistic, colorful, and never bore me. A large book case that is full of artistic book jackets makes the room artistic.

Of course I pick a book out from them and read it. Enjoying story doesn’t need any thinking. Even the story that you chose is somewhat difficult to understand, you should not care about it. To just enjoy the story is the best way for reading. YabunoNaka written by Akutagawa Ryunosuke, is one of my favorite novels It is a very strange story, so I can not understand some parts of the story. But I like the strangeness of this work and it is just the point of this work. A writer is an artist, I think. Artists are different from us. In other words, he does somewhat strange something so we ought to enjoy this strangeness.

How to take pleasure of reading is in each person’s mind. We each go to our favorite book store and each choose our favorite book. It becomes our individual book.
