The Olympic Games

This year, the Olympic Games took place in Beijing. The Olympics has the Summer and the Winter Games once every two years. The Beijing Olympics is the Summer Games. The Summer and the Winter Games have different competitions. For example the summer Games has swimming, gymnastic, soccer and track and field. On the other hand, the Winter games has the ski jump, figure-skating, bobsleigh and so on.

The International Olympic Committee selects a city to host the Olympic Games. It’s always very exciting. Since the year 2000, Sydney, Salt Lake, Beijing, Torino, London, and Vancouver have all been chosen to host the Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee makes this decision very carefully. The application is very long, slow, and difficult. Cities that apply need to work very hard.

This time, I also watched Beijing Olympic on TV. I was so excited to watch the world’s top athletes. One of the most interesting is Judo, because it is the Japanese national game. This time, 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals were acquired from The International Olympic Committee in Judo. Men and women in Judo took only 7 in all, but I think that they did their best. My second favorite competition is soccer, because when I was in junior high school and high school, I played soccer. Especially, woman’s soccer was very fun. I didn’t think they won a preliminary match, but their team qualified for the finals league. They even were winning in finals league. I was amazed. Eventually, they didn’t take a medal, but they changed the history of Japanese woman’s soccer.

It is difficult for us to predict the result at the Olympic. If the result was quite different from what we had expected, we will be more excited. The Olympic Games are very interesting because it is unpredictable. I look forward to enjoying the next Summer Olympic Games.
